Straight out of the gloomy industrial city of Galati arises another bassline soldier with a mission to spread low frequency love to the world. A little bit of grime, a little bit of dub and definitely much love coming from the one called Pake who serves us his own productions in this treat of a mix that doesn’t trick. We’ve been chewing on this one for almost a week and we realised it’s time to do a proper introduction.

Pake’s been flirting with sick basslines for more than 3 years and delivered us – alongside LMK the Blaze a Lot EP last year in April and he’s also done a remix for Mesmer’s “Fine Wide Spread” (Scarcity Records). In the meantime he’s been busy making tunes and playing constantly in his home town with the infamous Galaxi Crew.

It’s January 2013, the techno music is over and so is mankind. Sailing through a cosmic space now full of myriads of former Earth ashes, Lord Bangzorg, the captain-DJ of a klingonian spaceship which is in fact amassive entertainment club for his race, is quite sad and angry even if the lines on his forehead make him always look angry. He’s in the middle of compiling a mix for the next party on the ship when everybody should go nuts because it’s President Kling’s Birthday but, oh k-boy, his mind is so distracted, all his thoughts are going straight to the prison cell where the last human female, Tracy, is chained. Yes, folks, he’s in love with that alien and, fuck President’s Day, Bangzorg wants to impress her with his mix which will be transmitted through all spacespeakers even in the prison cells. But all he knows is the traditional Klingonian club music which is mainly a succession of sounds like “bzrg”, “frgz”, “stgrz” and even “zgrg”. Suddenly, a glimpse of hope appears in his eyes: an unknown furry animal with incredibly long ears was stolen from the Earth before its implosion and now he’s trapped in the science lab on the ship; attached to his neck, there is a round magnetic thingy which, as their scientists say, is a record of annoying human music sounds. Bangzorg runs to the lab and find the curious creature on a cage, he’s standing with a paw right over that record and looks straight to the klingonian. Bangzorg says “Please” but it sounded more like “Plzr”. Bangzorg says “Please” and now it sounds better. The furry animal finally lets it go and the klingonian takes the record on which he reads struck by a lightning bolt: “Mixtape for Tracy”. He looks to the animal and sees a smile. That’s how the mix sounded:

Cine este Tomasan? Tomasan este Tomasounds...si invers.
Ce inseamna de fapt Tomasounds si la ce se refera? Pana acum ati avut de ales intre a iesi in oras pe ritmuri de Downtown Funk, a gandit Out Of The Box si v-ati dedublat preferintele muzicale cu Deeper Indigo.
Tomasounds este episodul urmator. „Manual" de creatie a unui stil sau, mai simplu: „A Sound is Born". A se citi „pagina cu pagina".
De ce Tomasounds in doua parti? Pentru ca exista party si meditation, pentru ca muzica se danseaza dar se si asimileaza, sound-ul se simte dar se si analizeaza, pentru ca diferenta de bpm conteaza, pentru ca exista breakbeat dar si dubstep, Stanton Warriors dar si 2562, Fingerlickin' dar si DubKraft si in special pentru ca toate elementele enumerate mai sus sunt la fel de importante si pentru ca ele coexista.
De ce Tomasounds CD1? In primul rand pentru ca iesim cu totii la party-uri. Pentru ca aici se intalnesc Plump DJs cu Stanton Warriors, Bassbin Twins cu Adam Freeland, Run DMC cu Cut & Run, The Body Snatchers cu Beat Assassins, Dave Spoon cu Beat Vandals. Pentru ca remix-urile inseamna intotdeauna vibe. Pentru B-Phreak – Chunk Style si pentru cei care si-o amintesc, chiar daca Merka si-a pus amprenta aici. Pentru vocals de la Yo Majesty sau MC Stellar. Inca o data pentru Plump DJs. Pentru breakbeat.
De ce Tomasounds CD2? Pentru ca avem nevoie de muzica inteligenta. Pentru ca dubstep-ul este sound, nimic altceva. Pentru TRG, Asusu, Peverelist, Martyn, 2562 sau Scuba. Pentru piesa TRG remixata de Martyn, care i-a schimbat perspectivele doamnei Mary Anne Hobbs. Fara indoiala pentru Shackleton – New Dawn. Pentru ca Switch a remixat The Chemical Brothers. Pentru ca alura technoida a dubstep-ului se intelege perfect cu Simian Mobile Disco. Pentru ca Scuba – Hard Boiled va obliga sa apasati repeat.

Scuba - 10245 Dubstep Mix for XLR8R Podcast
Dupa cum v-a obisnuit deja, unul dintre liderii pe piata mondiala a revistelor de muzica (electronica si nu numai), XLR8R a anuntat astazi un nou podcast. De data aceasta invitatul este Paul Rose, unul dintre personajele de care am mai discutat in trecut. Nu ati retinut numele? Este vorba despre Scuba aka fondatorul Hotflush Recordings. A Mutual Antipathy a fost un album laudat si criticat aproximativ in aceeasi masura de devoratorii genului insa in acelasi timp a functionat ca o prima caramida in fundatia noului sound pe care Paul l-a dezvoltat, un amestec perfect de experimental, dubstep si techno “for the likes of” Shackleton, Pangaea sau T++.
10245 Dubstep Mix este pe scurt un amalgam de sample-uri complet mindblowing intrepatrunse de cele mai adanci si subtile linii de bass existente momentan in lumea productiilor dubstep. Evolutia genului continua se pare intr-un mod din ce in ce mai greu digerabil pentru ahtiatii dancefloor-urilor si pentru cei mai conservatori.

Rob Booth si al sau Electronic Explorations Podcast au atins a 46-a saptamana de existenta. Dupa o prima prezenta marca .ro, in saptamana 24, prin TRG - pentru cei pe langa care stirea a trecut cu o viteza mai mare decat trebuia, click AICI - Romania se intoarce in playlist, chiar daca o face de la peste 2000 Km departare prin Alien Pimp. Pe langa sound-ul pur DubKraft - cu care v-am obisnuit si pe care vi l-am recomandat in repetate randuri - podcastul de aceasta saptamana este condimentat cu selectia bine-cunoscuta EE de dubstep, techno, minimal si muzica experimentala si asezonat perfect cu beat(match)-uri de la un alt personaj din sfera muzicala est-europeana: DJ Madd.

Daca pe Silviu deja il cunoasteti iar despre Rob Booth si ce face el puteti afla mai multe AICI, noi va vom oferi ceva informatii despre DJMadd, care aparent este in cadrul scenei maghiare unul dintre DJ-ii cu cea mai notabila ascensiune din ultimii ani. Reprezentant Boombap! si Nakedlunch - label proaspat nascut de care ati auzit tot prin al nostru TRG, primul release avand tiparite pe sleeve numele unor track-uri ca Soho Girls sau Generation - Madd are un trecut serios pe scena drum&bass din Budapesta, alaturi de crew-ul Bladerunnaz, de label-uri ca 36 Hertz (detinut de DJ Vapour) sau Fokuz si un viitor la fel de luminos in ceea ce priveste dubstep-ul. La numai un an de la convertirea sa la acest gen productiile bassline ale lui Madd primesc deja support din partea lui Skream, 2562, Martyn, Breakage sau Joe Nice iar prezenta sa pe line-up-urile party-urilor de gen din Budapesta incepe sa fie una obligatorie. Daca o mostra din ce poate DJMadd in materie de productie ati primit-o din partea lui Boc la Can You DUBstep, Electronic Explorations va pregateste o portie serioasa. Garnitura este selectia lui Rob in timp ce Alien Pimp este bautura fina. Un show absolut obligatoriu.

Dubstep.ro va prezinta un mix semnat Hazee (Skunk Predatorz), realizat pe data de 15 Aprilie in cadrul Radio AnonimTM.
Daca v-ati intrebat vreodata cum arata un mix in care selectia face absolut totul, aveti in fata DiscOpsDubs. Mixul incorporeaza pe durata a 44 de minute, pe cat se poate, esenta unui gen.
De la elementele specifice 2-step-ului si garage-ului din Sabot (Ethehot’s Sabot-Age Remix), la bootleg-ul Roots Manuva, la remixul Mindflow la Daft Punk, prin technoida Independent Life spre sound-ul “dubwise” din Banton Riddim, Baldheads, Jah Prayer sau Pirates, direct in hyped-up track-ul Round The World Girls. De la o piesa la care toata lumea se asteapta la o piesa la care poate doar cativa s-ar fi asteptat, Leftfield - Swords.
